New Writing North
Writers development programme in South East Northumberland
We've commissioned New Writing North (NWN) to programme and deliver a writing development programme for South East Northumberland.

This programme will be developed in partnership with Northumberland County Library Service and the community and voluntary sector in the area.

One part of the programme will provide on-going support for young writers in the form of a Cuckoo Young Writers Group (as part of NWN’s regional Cuckoo network) as well as a small number of targeted time-limited writing projects with community groups.

The Cuckoo Young Writers programme gives writers aged 12-19 the chance to gain advice, support and feedback on their work. Cuckoo Young Writers runs across the North East.

The programmes includes fortnightly writing sessions led by a professional writer, reviewing masterclasses and opportunities with theatres and cinemas in the region.

Cuckoo Young Writers also contribute to, edit and publish an online literary magazine for young people, Cuckoo Quarterly, at www.cuckooquarterly.com.
